CAIRNAERIE is a novel about love, family, hope, conflict and ultimately forgiveness. It is about life and how it never turns out exactly as we expect it to, no matter how hard we try.  It is about how to live well when things don’t turn out, and how life is more than, well, our own lives.

It is about fathers and daughters, husbands and wives, friends and relations. It is about lives twisting and intersecting, rubbing against each other like the strands of a strong rope. It is about how we are tied together, no matter how hard we try to be separate.

As I closed the last chapters of this book, put on the final revisions, checked the final drafts and added the acknowledgements, I had one thought: I hope this novel is a blessing to those who read it.

I hope it is entertaining, inspiring. I hope it is enlightening and thought-provoking. Most of all, though, I hope it blesses.
